Skilled Worker, Health and Care Worker or Student at degree level: B2 in all four skills. IELTS for UKVI 5.5 in each skill, PTE Academic UKVI 59, LanguageCert Academic or General SELT 60, or PSI Skills for English B2.
Partner or spouse visa, first application: A1 in speaking and listening. IELTS Life Skills A1, PTE Home A1, LanguageCert ESOL SELT A1 or PSI Skills for English A1 (2 component).
Trinity's tests are approved in the UK only, so they are not an option in Ghana.
How long each step takes
Booking: GOV.UK says you should be able to sit within 28 days of booking, but not always at the nearest centre.
Results: PTE usually within 2 days; LanguageCert 3 to 5 working days; PSI usually 3 to 5 days.
Your result gives you a SELT reference number to put on your visa application. It counts for two years.
Decision: GOV.UK's usual time for work, study and visit visas applied for outside the UK is 3 weeks; partner or spouse visas, 12 weeks.
