How to run each week

Four sessions
About an hour each. Short and regular beats one long weekend session.
Mark everything
Check every Reading and Listening answer against its reason, and keep a list of the question types you miss.
Write to the clock
Task 1 in 20 minutes and Task 2 in 40. Task 2 counts twice as much as Task 1.
Speak out loud
Record Part 2 answers and listen back. Speaking is 11 to 14 minutes with an examiner.

Questions people ask

How long should I prepare for IELTS?

It depends on the gap between your level and your target. Six weeks of four short sessions a week covers every part of the test once and leaves time for two full mocks.

Is an online IELTS course as good as coaching?

A course gives structure and practice you can do at any hour; a coach adds live feedback on your speaking and writing. Many people use a course and add feedback only where they are weakest.

Is there a free IELTS course?

The first lesson of the IELTSGenius course is free with no account, and the mock tests, Speaking test and score tools on this site are free.

What does the IELTSGenius course cover?

Reading, Writing and Speaking lessons, a question bank for those skills and every Writing prompt. Listening practice is free on the site.

Is it for Academic or General Training?

Both. Listening, Speaking and Writing Task 2 follow the same pattern in both, and the free mock tests come in Academic and General Training versions.
