Questions
What IELTS score do Oxford and Cambridge ask for?
Oxford asks for 7.5 overall with at least 7.0 in each component, all from the same session, and does not accept IELTS Online. Cambridge says it normally asks for 7.5 overall, usually with 7.0 or above in each element.
What IELTS score does King's College London need for Law or English?
King's puts The Dickson Poon School of Law and the Faculty of Arts & Humanities in Band B: 7.0 overall with at least 6.5 in each skill, all from one test. Computer Science, in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences, is Band D: 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each skill.
What does "two components at 6.0 or 6.5 and the rest at 7.0" mean?
That is Warwick's postgraduate Band B. You need 7.0 overall; up to two skills may be 6.0 or 6.5 as long as the other two are 7.0 or higher. No skill may be below 6.0. The checker applies this rule exactly.
Does the NMC need an overall IELTS band?
No. The NMC asks for at least 7 in Listening, Reading and Speaking and at least 6.5 in Writing, with no overall band. The GMC asks for 7.5 overall with at least 7.0 in each skill.
Is a university minimum the same as my course requirement?
Not always. Leeds, for example, publishes a 6.0 undergraduate minimum but says some courses ask for more. The checker marks these rows as minimums; your course page and your offer letter decide.
