Is IELTS 7 B2 or C1?
C1. IELTS places 7.0 to 8.0 at C1 and 5.5 to 6.5 at B2.
What CEFR level is IELTS 6.5?
B2, the top of IELTS's 5.5 to 6.5 range for that level.
What IELTS score is B2?
5.5 to 6.5. For a UK visa at B2, IELTS for UKVI needs at least 5.5 in each of the four skills.
What IELTS score is B1?
4.0 to 5.0. For a UK visa at B1, IELTS for UKVI needs at least 4.0 in each skill.
Is IELTS 5.5 accepted in the UK?
For a visa at B2, such as Skilled Worker or Student at degree level, 5.5 in every skill of IELTS for UKVI meets the minimum. Universities set their own scores, which can be higher.
Is IELTS 7 considered fluent?
IELTS calls band 7 a good user, and it is C1 on the CEFR, the level above upper intermediate.
What is A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 in IELTS?
They are the six CEFR levels, from beginner (A1) to proficient (C2). IELTS puts 4.0 to 5.0 at B1, 5.5 to 6.5 at B2, 7.0 to 8.0 at C1 and 8.5 to 9.0 at C2.

Method
- IELTS compares its bands with the CEFR in its own research: 4.0 to 5.0 is B1, 5.5 to 6.5 is B2, 7.0 to 8.0 is C1 and 8.5 to 9.0 is C2.
- For a UK visa, GOV.UK sets a minimum IELTS for UKVI band in every skill for each level: 4.0 for B1, 5.5 for B2, 7.0 for C1 and 8.5 for C2. Your lowest skill decides the level you meet.
